What is a hybrid offence?

It is defined as a form of offence which is prosecuted in Canada either by way of indictment or by a summary of convictions. An offence charged outside Canada which falls under this category is also termed as hybrid offence. Any offence which may be a summary of conviction but equivalent to hybrid offence is considered as an indictable offence to the citizenship.
